How to Adjust Aspect Ratios on Images to Improve Alignment?

If you have two images in equal columns, with equal padding, but the images look like they are different sizes, you may have two images that have different aspect ratios.

You can use the Zephyr image editor to crop images to a standard horizontal aspect ratio, preparing them for email use. For vertical images, you may need to use a dedicated image editor outside of Zephyr.

Finding a Good Aspect Ratio

First, find an image that has an aspect ratio you want, then click Apply Effects in the Content Properties area to the right. This will open the image editor.

Click Crop at the top, then browse the different aspect ratios to see if you can identify the aspect ratio of the image. If the edit box in the image cuts off the outside in any capacity, that isn’t the aspect ratio of the image. Make a mental note of the ratio of the “good” image you you can use it later.

Exit back to the email/template by clicking “cancel” until you’re looking at your design.

Editing the Other Image(s)

Click on one of the images you’d like to change, then click Apply Effects. Click on Crop, then select the Aspect Ratio you found for your other image.

Move the viewfinder to make sure you’re featuring the important facets of the image and that any trimming is removing minimally effective features.

Once you’ve got the view looking like you want, click Apply, then Save to save a new version of the image, and use the edited version in your design.
