How do I Archive a Template?

Written By Danny Schaffer

As an Admin, you can Archive a template if it no longer fits your needs, is stale, out of date, or redundant.

Archiving A Template

Archiving a template will remove it from the Admin account’s Templates page by default, though you can still locate the template later if needed.

Head to the Templates page and find the template you’d like to Archive. Click on the Template Title to reach the Template Details page.

Scroll down until you see the Template Status area. This will show a Green Check for any products in which this template is Active, and Grey Dashes if it is inactive in those products.

When all three products have Grey Dashes, you can use the Archive Template button.

Why Can’t I Archive This Template?

A template can only be archived if it is not being used in any of our products. If you see a Green Check for any product, you will first need to deactivate it before you can archive the template. The steps are different for each product:

  • Automation - A green check here means this template is being used as the template for an Automation event. Click on the Automation tab to discover which event(s) the template is being used for. Swap out the Event to use a different template; the green check will go away.

  • Drip Campaign - A green check here means this template is being used in an Active Drip Campaign. To archive this template, you will first need to make the Drip Campaign inactive. Head to the Drip Campaign and deactivate it to make this green check go away. (Please note, deactivating a Drip Campaign will end any current contact journeys immediately for all agents)

  • Lead Nurture - A green check here means this template is currently marked as Active for Lead Nurture. Use the Deactivate button to deactivate the template. (Please note: Deactivating a Template will prevent scheduled sends, remove Started Marketing pieces, and prevent copying of past emails using this template)

Where is my Archived Template?

You can find your Archived templates on the Templates page by scrolling down on the left side to find the Template Status checkboxes.

Check the box to view Archived templates. The page will reload and show your Archived templates as well. You can uncheck the other boxes to only view Archived templates.
